Carroll Music Studio - Where Talent is Just the Beginning
Welcome New & Returning Parents!
 This is the Parents Portal!
This page is designed for parents of current students and serves as a resource throughout the semester

I am looking forward to a new semester with some
new and some familiar faces!

Parents, please take advantage of the CMS Calendar as you plan the semester.  You will find the dates of CMS holidays,
recital dates, non-make-up day Fridays, etc. all marked on this
calendar for your information.

In addition, I will continually post the most current and
pertinent info on this page.  Of course, if you have questions,
please don't hesitate to contact me!

Instrumentalists
"Identifying High and Low Pitches- Listen to the examples played on each Mp3 file (played twice). Determine whether or not the second note played is higher or lower than the first. The answer sheet is provided within the same folder.
"Vocally Matching Intervals"-Use the mp3 files to listen and vocally sing back the intervals that you heard. Have an adult around to help you determine whether or not you sang the intervals correctly.
"Echo Clap"- There are 2 clips (about 3.5 minutes each), containing 3 different echo clapping exercises. Each example is played 3 times. After listening, pause the clip and clap back the rhythm you heard. Be sure to have an adult present to determine if you clapped the rhythms back correctly. The clips are provided in Video and Audio format. Choose whichever file is most convenient.
"Maintain a Steady Beat While Tapping Knee"-Listen to the Mp3 files provided and find a steady beat by tapping your knee. Again, have an adult around to determine how accurate your were.

Vocalists
"Identifying High and Low Pitches- Listen to the examples played on each Mp3 file (played twice). Determine whether or not the second note played is higher or lower than the first. The answer sheet is provided within the same folder.
"Echoing a Phrase"-Use the Mp3s to listen to the phrase (4 examples are given under each grade). Sing the phrase back vocally. Use the corresponding Mp3 file that is labeled "Answer" to see if you got it correct.
"Prepared Piece"- My Country 'Tis of Thee- There are 2 clips:

  • The first one should be MCToT with only the starting and ending notes.  This should be used to determine whether or not the student is prepared to sing the song a cappella (which is what Rollings requires).  Given the starting note & ending note, the student should match in pitch & rhythm.
  • The 2nd clip is MCToT with the melody being played along with the student.  If your student is still having trouble with the notes and the rhythms, continue to practice by alternating this clip with the a cappella clip.
